Math (Mr. Calmes)
Over the course of the next few weeks we will be working to memorize our
multiplication facts. Your kids have some flashcards that they can practice with
at home. Please work with them over fall break. We are having quizzes over them.
I suggest having your kids learn them one set at a time. Make them write them,
then quiz them, and repeat until they know them.
In addition, we will start a math ESS as soon as the weather turns colder. I
will send home permission slips a week in advance.
Language Arts
Please have your child continue to read during fall break. When we
return we will be working on summarizing stories.
Science (Mrs. Ison)
This week we learned about animal adaptations. We tried catching
different foods with different kinds of simulated bird beaks. We incorporated
math by graphing our results. We also answered open response questions
about life cycles in groups. After fall break we will be learning about
learned and inherited traits, population of ecosystems and reptiles. Enjoy
your time off!
Social Studies (Mrs. Cecil)
Please remember a social studies test on October 22nd. Also,
we will be going on our field trip to the Capitol and Governor’s Mansion on
October 21st.
Halloween Baskets
Our Halloween Happening basket is looking a little better. We had seven
students who sent things in. Thanks to you who were able to participate. Our
theme is "Dad’s Garage". Look for it at Halloween Happening!
Have a great week with your kids! They have worked very hard and deserve
some rest. Be safe!
