Class Pets

“Ophelia”

Ophelia is a leopard Gecko. They are one of the easiest lizards to keep in captivity! Growing to about five or six inches long they can live in a medium sized aquarium their whole life. Ophelia is almost a year old so she is nearly full sized. They eat live crickets and meal worms, but only need to be fed three times a week.

In the wild Geckos can be found in Iran, Pakistan , Iraq and Saudi Arabia . Most geckos in pet stores are bred in captivity and become very tame over time!

Fish

We have a tropical fish tank. This is a warm freshwater tank. The fish are native of Southeast Asia and South America; particularly the Amazon River . Currently we have Neon Tetras and a Chinese Algae eater.

Freshwater Pond

We have a freshwater pond, housed in a large water trough meant for livestock. We study the pond during our life Science Unit. It comes in very handy! The pond has some tadpoles, mosquito fish, and a lot of algae in it!
