NORTHSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Dear Northside Student and
Parent/Guardian,
Welcome back for the 2008–2009 school year at Northside Elementary! The summer
is winding down and our August 14th start date is quickly
approaching. I am excited to start another year with the Northside family and I
have high expectations for this school year. We are committed to continuous
improvement at Northside and it is a priority to maintain a positive atmosphere
for students, staff, and parents. I believe that we can promote this philosophy
by working together as a school community and focusing on doing what is best for
our kids.
A “Meet
and Greet” event for 1st -5th grades is planned for
Thursday, August 7th from 6:00-7:00pm. Incoming Kindergarten
students and parents will have a separate meeting on Tuesday, August 5th.
This will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and drop off
school supplies. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) will be on hand to
answer questions and seek your involvement. Please stop by for a visit to check
things out.
Please read over the additional information listed below. We look forward to
seeing you on August 7th and kicking off another fantastic year at
Northside Elementary!
Sincerely,
Ryan Asher, Principal

Back to School Shopping:
As you do back to school shopping,
please be aware of the Northside Elementary Student Dress Code Policy:
All Grades:
- No hats will be worn in
the building or tops showing any skin around the midriff.
- Shoes - on PE days,
your child should wear rubber-soled shoes. Shoes with wheels (“Heelys”) are
not permitted.
- Clothing will have no
offensive logos or language.
Grades 2 – 5
- No tank tops are to be
worn.
- No sundresses with
spaghetti straps are to be worn.
- Pants/shorts must be
worn at the waist.
- Shorts, skirts, and
dresses must be mid-thigh or longer with no visibility of undergarments when
standing, sitting, or bending over.
- Bicycle shorts must be
worn with shorts over them.
The principal or designee
has final authority on acceptable dress. If he/she feels there is a problem,
the parent/guardian will be contacted. Whenever there is a doubt about clothing
that should be worn to school, the best idea is not to wear that clothing.
