Math
We have begun the second Everyday Math unit. We are solving problems using function machines and diagrams, and analyzing comparison diagrams to help solve comparison number stories.
Science and Social Studies
We will be studying Earth’s land next week. We will learn about Earth’s
layers and analyze differences between rocks and minerals. After fall break your
child will be studying the structure and transformation of matter with Ms. Rice.
This unit will last for 9 weeks. We are finishing our analysis of how people
interact with their environment in Social Studies.
Writing
We are writing persuasive letters. The persuasive letter is in the same
format as a friendly letter with a purpose to persuade someone to do something.
Halloween Happening
Friday, October 24th is the date of PTO Halloween Happening.
Halloween Happening is a great family event with game booths, silent auction,
cake walk, food and more. Each class will be making a silent auction theme
basket. The theme for our class basket is "Car Care" which would
consist of any item that could be used to care for a car such as car wash, wax,
washing mitts, drying cloths, upholstery cleaner, gas treatment, etc. All items
need to be sent to our classroom by Friday, October 10th. Our game
booth at Halloween Happening is "Football Toss." I will need 2
volunteers for each half hour beginning at 5:30. An updated sign up sheet is in
your child’s folder today. Please help if you can.
Fundraisers
We are collecting "boxtops". You may send those in any day you
would like. Please remember Tuesday’s Papa John’s Pizza Night. Order
anything from the Versailles Papa John’s on Tuesdays, send in the receipt on
the pizza box and the school gets 20% of the proceeds.
Pictures
This Thursday, October 9 is picture day. Students should wear their best
smile.
End of the Grading Period
October 10 is the end of the grading period. Grade reports will be sent
home on October 24th. We are required to conference with you to
discuss your child’s progress. I will send home a sign up sheet next Friday to
begin conferencing.
Snacks
A new snack calendar is in your child’s folder today.
