Binders and Planners
Students will keep their planner and a daily folder in their binders this year. The binder should be brought home and returned to school daily. Please look in the planner for messages from me and to see what your child has for homework. The daily folder will be used for homework sheets (if one has been assigned for the day) and other materials. There is a side for items that you should keep and a side for items that should be returned. You can also place items in the return side that you need to give me such as absence notes or other correspondence.

Math
Next week in math we will be telling time, measuring length using centimeters and inches, using data to construct graphs, and analyzing probability which will blend nicely with our weather unit which was begun in science last week. If you would like to see objectives for math and all other elementary subjects you may do so by visiting the Kentucky Department of Education website and the core content 4.1 link.

Special Classes
Our special class schedule is as follows: Monday – Art; Tuesday – P.E.; Wednesday – Library; Thursday – Music; Friday – library. Students should wear appropriate clothing for P.E. including tennis shoes.

Supplies
One item left off the supply list was markers for Ms. Stohner, our art teacher. Any size box of Crayola Markers will do.

Behavior
Beginning this week I will send home a behavior report that should be signed and returned each Monday. The first sheet will include behavior for Thursday and Friday last week also. Information regarding our behavior plan was sent home today. Please sign at the bottom and return to me.

Snacks
A snack calendar is in your child’s folder last week. Please send 18 individually wrapped snacks on your child’s assigned day. Students may bring a bottle of water to school each day to use as they do their work in the classroom.

Grade test results
If your child took the GRADE reading test last year the results of that test was sent home with them today. Explanations are given on the test report. If there is data that you can’t interpret please feel free to contact me.

Grades
In third grade your child will not receive letter grades A, B, C, etc. Third grade students can receive an E (excellent 90 – 100% mastery), G (good – 80 – 89% mastery), S (70 – 79% mastery), N (60 – 69% mastery), and U (0 – 59% mastery).

Allergies
Please indicate any allergies your child may have on the form provided in today’s folder and return on Monday.
