Dear Friends,

This past week was a very busy week for your child. They have worked very hard but every week is like that. This week we will be working on the letters E and F. Please continue to go over the letters A, B, C, and D at home. Look for these letters in words or for words that start with these letters. If your child is still struggling writing their names please help them at home. In math we will review our first section in Everyday Math. We have covered numbers 1-9, measurement and patterns. You are receiving some math sheets with your newsletters. Please use these activities to reinforce what we have been working on.

This week we will begin our study of community helpers. If anyone would like to talk about your job in the community please let me know. We would discuss these jobs after lunch around 12 noon. The community helpers we will learn about are doctors, grocery store clerks, mail persons, carpenters, nurses, etc. On September 17 we are going to take a community walk downtown. A permission slip will be coming home this week. Please sign this and return it ASAP. You are welcome to walk with us if you have had your background check. Please check with Sue in the office if you need a background check.

Some important dates to remember:

  • September 10 – High attendance day. Please make sure your child is at school. The class with perfect attendance will get a special prize. Everyone is doing a great job so far. We had 100 percent attendance this past week.

  • September 12 – midterm reports will come home. Please sign the bottom and only return the bottom portion.

  • September 15 – All fundraiser money is due with the orders. Please remember, they money must come in with the orders.

  • September 16 – PTO meeting 6 p.m. in the cafeteria

  • September 17 – Early Release – the children are dismissed at 12:45

  • September 25 – open house 6-7 p.m. I hope everyone can come because I will be covering some very important information that night. We will start as close to 6 as possible so please come if you can.

  • September 26 – District day – no school for students

*Don’t forget to send in snack if you haven’t done so already. Big bags of snack really work the best.

*Please make sure if you send in money that it is in an envelope marked what it is for.  We don’t do a very good job if we guess.

*If you do not want your child to eat breakfast or to have extras at lunch make sure you send in a note.

Thanks for all you are doing. Please use the alphabet letters I sent home. The more you do at home the more we can do here at school.
