Dear Friends,

This week is a short week. We do not have school on Friday so we have a lot to cover in a short amount of time. The cafeteria has had a major change to take note of. If your child has been getting a small water instead of milk they no longer can do that. The state department says that the child must get milk unless they have a note from the doctor stating they cannot have milk. You can purchase water for 25 cents extra if you want them to have it. Please be sure and send in lunch money. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Rhonda in the cafeteria.

In math we will be working on positional words and patterns. In reading we are using the letters I and J to learn some more sight words. We are also learning to read right to left and we touch each word as we read. We are working on what happens first in the story, next and so on. We also are learning about the main characters and the setting.

We have open house this Thursday night from 6-7 p.m. I will have a sign up list then for conferences for our first report card. If you can’t make it I will be sending it home next week to sign up. I will also a sign up for our Halloween Happening event that takes place on Oct. 24. It is a very big event here at school and I need lots of help. Each class has a basket that we put together for a silent auction. Our basket is "A Classroom Library". If you can buy one or two books for our basket that would be great. You can donate a gift card to a book store if you would rather do that than buying a book. The more books the more money our basket will bring.

Our next field trip will be October 21 to Boyd’s Farm. We will have more information at open house.

Don’t forget to send in your box tops from General Mills products. This is a very easy fund raiser for our school to make money. We had over 700 last month.

If your child is reading every night please write it down on the library reading forms. Your child will become a member of the 30 hour club and get to go to Gatti Town in May.
