October 6, 2008 Dear Friends, I am sending home the permission slip for the field trip on Oct. 21. Please be sure and read it very carefully. We are very sorry about the cost but with the price of the buses and gas we do not have a choice in the cost. This does include admission and a pumpkin from the farm. We do have room on the bus for parents but you must have your background check back first. Also, if you have younger children they cannot ride the bus. This week we will finish our unit on Economics. The children can tell you about wants, needs, scarcity, savings, goods, services and the uses of money. In math we will begin work on larger numbers (11-19). If your child is struggling with 1-9 please continue to practice at home. I also sent home a math sheet for you to do at home. If you pretend with money it will really help your child at school. We have covered three sight words every week at school. They are the, my and I. Please look for these in books you read at home. The book fair is this week. Our shopping days are Wednesday and Thursday. You should have received a list of books available. You may send in money in an envelope with your child but please mark what the money is for. There is a family night on Thursday night if you wish to come and look around with your child at the book fair. Important dates:
