August 14, 2008 Dear Friends, Every week you will receive a newsletter on Mondays to inform you of what we will be doing for the week. Please take a few minutes to read these letters. They are very important! For the next 2-3 weeks I will be working with the children to evaluate their learning styles and to check for letter and number recognition, reading abilities, handwriting, etc. Please be patient for a few weeks until I can get everyone in a group that suits their abilities. If your child is struggling with writing their names please help them at home also. If your child can write his/her name we will work on making the letters correctly. · We have gym on Monday and Tuesdays. Please have your child wear tennis shoes on these days. · If your child is going home a different way than usual please send me a note that morning. · Make sure your child has money in their lunch account. If you do not want your child to eat breakfast or to purchase snacks please make sure you send a note to Ms. Rhonda in the cafeteria. Breakfast is $1.30 and lunch is $2.05. If your child only needs a milk for a lunch for home don’t forget to keep money in their account also. · Please send the yellow folders back every day. That is our form of communication. · Make sure if you send money it is in an envelope and your child’s name is on it. · READ, read and read. It makes your child a better student. The schools PTO organization is great. You are welcome to send in Box tops from General Mills products. We collect these every month. I only check my e-mail at the end of the day. · I need a baby picture of your child as soon as possible. You will get the picture back but not for a couple of weeks. · You are welcome to eat lunch with your child. Our lunch time is 11:25-11:50. · On your child’s birthday please feel free to send in a special snack. We will have it during snack time, usually around 9:15. Don’t forget to send in snacks for the whole class. Gold fish, crackers, pretzels, etc. are great. If you are sending in individual snacks each day please pack these separate from their lunch. · T-Shirt order forms went home at meet and greet and some will receive them today. Please turn in the orders by Aug. 29 so we can get the shirts ordered for our first field trip. The shirts are $5. If you need a new form please let me know.
