News and Notes from 4th Grade August 22, 2008
These fantastic fourth graders are really off to a great start. We appreciate their excellent behavior and attention. Please give your child a pat on the back and talk to them each day about specific things they have learned at school. Math (Mr. Calmes) Today you will find the "Family Letter" that goes along with our new math series. I also included a letter from me describing the transition. I know it’s a lot of paper, but please read these things. It will be helpful to your child. Next week we will complete lessons 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 Science (Mrs. Ison) Next week we will continue to learn the steps of the scientific method. We will also be in the science lab often learning how to use science equipment safely and correctly. Social Studies (Mrs. Cecil/Endicott) We will continue our study of Early Kentucky History next week. Language Arts In Writing we will focus on writing powerful paragraphs. In reading we will start reading from our reading series. Our story will be "Akiak". We will focus on the skills of sequencing, inferring, suffixes and short and long vowel sounds of I and O. ** Remember, each 4th grade student is responsible for earning 12 AR points each nine weeks so reading each night is essential. *** Please read and sign the attached assignment book/homework policy. Return as soon as possible.
